Brett Baisley
Brett Baisley is a Software Production Management & Reliability Engineering Manager who has spent more than two decades transforming complex technical challenges into stable, scalable, and elegant solutions. At Morgan Stanley, he leads teams responsible for the reliability, performance, and day‑to‑day production management of critical trading and investment platforms—driving automation, reducing operational toil, and strengthening system resilience across the enterprise.
Known for his ability to break down intricate problems into clear, actionable steps, Brett blends deep technical expertise with a calm, pragmatic approach to incident response, observability, and continuous improvement. His work spans distributed systems, monitoring and debugging, CI/CD automation, Python and shell scripting, and the thoughtful application of generative AI to real‑world engineering workflows.
Brett’s career began in the early 2000s as a consultant at Keane (now NTT DATA), before moving to New York City to join Morgan Stanley as a production engineer. Over the years, he has supported more than 60 applications, led major reliability initiatives, and delivered measurable impact—including significant reductions in outages and manual operational load. In 2024, he earned the People’s Choice Award at Morgan Stanley’s GenAI Hackathon for his innovative approach to AI‑driven tooling.
Beyond his professional work, Brett is a lifelong technologist whose passion started with a Commodore 64 and grew through building PCs, designing early web interfaces, and exploring emerging technologies.
